Tennessee Alliance for Financial Independence

Through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, households with incomes of $49,000 or less in 2010 qualify for FREE Income Tax assistance. VITA sites across the state help families claim thousands in Earned Income Tax and other tax credits. Additionally, tax filers learn about community resources that may assist them with credit counseling, savings, employment, avoiding foreclosure and home ownership.

TAFI coordinates with 10 financial stability coalitions across the state providing funding, technical assistance, and resources for the VITA program. TAFI VITA services extend to 48 counties in Tennessee.

The Tennessee Alliance for Financial Independence works with its partners to create presentations on avoiding predatory lending and promotion of the Earned Income Tax Credit and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Programs.
